Problem C13:
A baseball of mass m is hit at an angle of 30 degrees with a speed of
n1v0. The baseball is caught by an outfielder
at the same height that it was hit. The speed of the ball when caught
is n2v0. How much work was done by the frictional forces
(mainly air friction) on the ball. If the work done by friction is
Wf = n3 mv02/2,
what is the value of n3. Note that n1, n2,
and n3 are unitless.
