Introduction

Welcome to the Phy122 online optics learning module: "Magnifier & Microscope"

In this online learning tool, you can study how a magnifying glass (or magnifier for short) works. We will calculate the magnification of a magnifier for two special cases. Using a magnifier in connection with a second convex lens leads to an even more powerful instrument: the microscope. We will study the concept of how a compound microscope magnifies an object, and describe how this widely used optical tool is assembled.
